St. George and the Dragonby ~shaungent

Traditional Art / Sculpture / Fantasy

This is the completed maquette for my St. George and the Dragon concept for a childrens book made entirely out of wire, Super Sculpey and epoxy putty. Next project: David and Goliath!

St. George and the Dragon by ~shaungent is a very unique piece of sculpture with a very interesting twist on the original title and images that spring to mind. Though the leve of detail is stunning, both the texture work and the actual lines and shapes of the piece. ( Suggested by ~cursed-sight and Featured by !Thebuild )

This is really amazing! How do keep all that texture so seperate? Every time I try, it makes a bunch on chunks and crumbs that only get worse when I try to pick them off the form.

Hi there. The secret is putting a layer of cling wrap between the clay and your tool as you sculpt your textures. Takes a little getting used to but works great.
